A Wellness Blog Goes to Sweden!

Swedish Summer!

I live part of the year in Sweden and part of the year in America. One of my favorite things about Sweden is the food! The flavors, freshness and popular food combinations are (in my opinion) amongst the best in the world.

My diet is broader in Sweden. I eat more bread, potatoes, dairy, sweets, coffee, etc. and I don’t feel bloated or gain weight. I believe this has to do with the quality of the food. The village in which I live is agriculural. They grow all types of fruits and vegetables, wheat, barley, oats and they also have a large dairy and meat industry. In effect, most things I eat are local and fresh.

There is something to be said for how you feel after a meal. Even if you eat something that should be “healthy”, pay attention to how you feel after.  If you feel bloated or tired, it may be because of hidden additives and preservatives. If you listen to your body, it will help guide you to what you need and don’t need.
